Getting Started
“How do I schedule my child’s first class?”
Call us at 678 404 9484 or fill out the INQUIRY FORM and we’ll gladly help you to get started.
Also, please ensure you have read our STUDIO POLICY as it should have all information regarding you and your child’s lessons.
Scheduling & Makeups
“How do I reschedule missed lessons?”
Makeup lessons should be rescheduled directly through the instructor. A lesson must be rescheduled prior to the end of the semester; makeup lessons are not carried over to the following semester, nor will they be credited or refunded. There are two ways to makeup a lesson. You may reschedule a lesson to a different day/time mutually agreed to by the teacher and student. You may also add extra time to a future lesson, as long as the teacher’s schedule allows for it.
“What is expected notice if I need to re-schedule my lesson?”
Teachers will expect that at least a 24-hour notice is given in order to qualify for a makeup lesson. Lessons missed without a proper notice are not required to be refunded or made up, unless the teacher approves of it. A student is also expected to arrive on time for their lesson. A teacher is under no obligation to refund or extend a lesson if the student is late. Lessons that result in a no-show are forfeited by the student and will not be made up. The only exception is a same-day sickness, where we still expect a notice before the lesson time, but is not required to be 24-hours in advance.
“Can I cancel and reschedule as many lessons as I want to?”
No. TWO make ups per semester per student are allowed with 24hr notice. Lessons that were no-shows or cancelled with less than 24hr notice will not be rescheduled and forfeited immediately. Once a student reached his/her two allowed make ups, no more make ups will be given even though the semester might not be over yet.
Fall and Spring semesters run for 19 weeks
Summer semester is 8 weeks
Pricing
“How will we be charged for lessons?”
We operate on flat rate monthly billing system with tuition being auto-charged on the first of each month. There is also an annual, $30-per-student fee that is billed in August.
“Why am I being charged the same this month, even though there are only 3 days/fewer days than normal?” OR “…even though there are 5 days/more days than normal?”
Tuition is a flat rate monthly fee which is the same each month regardless to the number of classes in a given month. We base tuition on a 48 week annual calendar, as 4 of the 52 weeks in the year are set aside by schools for holidays and are NOT included into your payments. Thus, the tuition covers 4 classes per month on the average, but there will also be months with 5 and 3 lessons.
Lesson Termination
“I need to cancel/take a break from lessons. What is your lesson cancellation policy?”
30-day WRITTEN notice is required if a student needs to terminate the lessons or take a break (even it is a short one or two-month break). The student is still financially responsible for the last 30 days of lessons from the day a written notice was given regardless to whether he is attending or not. Please, email us at piano_fortissimo@yahoo.com as soon as you know that you need to discontinue the lessons and we’ll cancel your schedule/billing plan 30 days after the notice was received. Only written notices are accepted. No phone calls or text messages, please.
Recitals
“Will my child get a chance to play in recitals?”
Yes, absolutely! We offer two formal recital performances per year (Winter and Spring), an additional informal recital (Fall or “Halloween”), and the Federation Festival (more information below). All the students who have had at least 6 to 12 months of instruction should be prepared to participate. However, if the teacher determines that the student is not ready for a recital, the teacher reserves the right to not allow that student to participate in that particular recital.
“Is there a fee to participate in a recital?”
There is a small recital fee to participate, usually about $15-$35 per student. This covers the rental cost of locations, as well as moving instruments or other equipment. The recital fee is billed with October (for Halloween Recital), December (for the Winter Recital) and May (for the Spring Recital) lesson tuition.
“What is the Federation Festival?”
The Federation Festival is a sort of test issued by the National Federation Music Club (NFMC). Students register around September or October to participate the following March or April, to give them 5 to 6 months to prepare. It is a graded test with the association to earn points and awards for high performance and consistently improving musical talent.
